An ecommerce experience built to make great cocktails feel a little less intimidating
- from choosing the right kit to figuring out why your Daiquiri somehow tastes like regret.
COCKTAIL GEARBOX
WHAT ARE WE MAKING?
Cocktail Gearbox already had the ingredients: cocktail kits, useful knowledge
and a genuine love for making better drinks at home. The website needed to
bring all of that together. Not just somewhere to shop - somewhere to browse,
learn, get curious and eventually become the person who says things like
“actually, you’re over-diluting that.”
INTERACTION & DEVELOPMENT
In addition to designing the website, I implemented custom front-end interactions
to add moments of delight throughout the experience. One example is the cart
icon, designed as an empty martini glass that fills when items are added - visually
reinforcing the idea of building a drink. This small interaction adds personality to
the interface while giving users immediate, intuitive feedback, turning a functional
element into a playful brand moment.
COLOUR PALETTE
The website’s colour palette was developed to support Cocktail Gearbox’s
goal of making home bartending feel effortless, warm, and unintimidating.
Drawing from natural, earthy tones - the palette creates a grounded visual
atmosphere that feels both premium and approachable. Soft neutrals provide
breathing space across the layout, allowing content to feel calm and easy to
navigate, while the warmer golden tones introduce a sense of richness and
craft, subtly referencing cocktail ingredients, wood, and aged spirits. The deeper
brown anchors the palette, adding depth and contrast without overpowering
the experience.
Working with Payas has been an absolute pleasure. She took the time to truly understand our business,
brand, and what we were trying to achieve, rather than simply building a Shopify website. What stood
out the most was her ability to think beyond execution. She consistently shared honest opinions on what
worked, what didn't, and how we could improve the overall user experience and design.That perspective
added real value throughout the project. Payas works efficiently, communicates clearly, and delivers with
a high level of professionalism and attention to detail. The entire process was smooth, collaborative,
and well managed from start to finish.
